United Way of Central Maryland Announces Jim Wheeler of Ayers Saint Gross as Chairman of the Board

United Way of Central Maryland today announced the appointment of Jim Wheeler as Chairman of the Board.

 

In his position, Jim Wheeler will lead United Way’s board of directors, which is responsible for United Way’s strategic direction and results. The board also helps to raise and invest funds in support of United Way’s work to provide families throughout central Maryland the tools, resources and support they need to build financial stability, obtain access to healthy food and quality health care, and keep kids in school.

 

“Over the next year, as part of an $8.27 million investment in Baltimore and its surrounding counties, United Way of Central Maryland will continue its important efforts to change the odds for families and communities facing poverty,” said Jim Wheeler, Chairman of the Board, United Way of Central Maryland. “After 24 years as a volunteer with United Way of Central Maryland, I am eager to take on this new leadership position.”

 

Mr. Wheeler became involved with the United Way in 1991 as a volunteer. He also serves as a Board member of the World Trade Center Institute. Mr. Wheeler is President of Ayers Saint Gross, an internationally recognized architecture and planning firm headquartered in Baltimore. He has written and lectured extensively on trends in higher education planning and co-authored the chapter on campus planning for the APPA/NACUBO publication Planning and Managing the Campus Facilities Portfolio. He has presented multiple papers to the Confederation of India Industry’s National Committee on Education and is responsible for the development of Ayers Saint Gross’ nationally recognized Comparing Campuses analysis, a statistical database of more than 250 college and university campuses now in its 17th year of publication.
