100 Vendors to Exhibit; Performance Schedule Finalized for Healthy Harford Day September 26

Visitors can get a flu shot, purchase locally grown produce, try Zumba or Pilates and receive tips and information about healthy lifestyles at the free event.

 

[Bel Air, Maryland] August 26, 2015 – More than 100 healthy lifestyle vendors are participating in the fifth annual Healthy Harford Day, which will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Vendors and activities will be located at 119 South Hays Street in Bel Air, across from the Bel Air Farmer’s Market.

 

Healthy Harford Day is a free event hosted by Healthy Harford, the non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of Harford County residents.  Last year’s event drew more than 2,000 area residents and this year’s expanded event is expected to draw an even larger crowd. To help visitors plan their itinerary, event organizers have posted a complete schedule of classes and performances available to download at http://www.healthyharford.org/.

 

There will be lots of resources relating to non-toxic living, healthy nutrition, stress relief and fun ways to get active. Other presentations and activities include: art for relaxation, plant-based superfood cooking demonstrations, free bike helmets and professional fittings, free massages and gardening tips for creating edible landscapes.

 

New this year, attendees can receive their flu vaccines on the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake HealthLink Van. Vaccinations are $20.00 for the flu shot or Flu Mist, $40.00 for the high dose version and free for those with Medicare B ID cards. Cash or check payment only. Visitors can also receive free blood pressure, mental health and substance abuse screenings; assessments by physical therapists; hands on CPR and AED training; disease management tips for Lyme disease, asthma and multiple sclerosis; and advice on how to reduce your risk of cancer.

The Main Stage performance schedule is as follows:

9:00 – 9:25           Zumba with Karin Lawson of the Y of Central Maryland

9:30 – 9:55           Jazzercise with Sara Gering

10:00 – 10:25      Urban Line Dancing with Rhonda Gardner

10:30 – 10:55      Bel Air Zumba

11:00 – 11:25      Pilates on Main

11:30 – 11:55      Streetwise women’s self defense

12:00 – 12:20      Presentations and Proclamations

12:25 – 12:45      Ryan School of Irish Dancing

 

 

Children’s entertainment and activities will be ongoing throughout the day and include face painting, a bounce house and kids’ clubs. Parents can also get information on great ways to keep kids active.  The complete schedule of events and vendors is posted on http://www.healthyharford.org/.
