The afternoon features live music provided by the Appalachian bluegrass band Jake and the Burtones, plus heavy hors d’oeuvres, mint juleps, an open bar, games of chance and more.

Guests are encouraged to wear Kentucky Derby attire such as seersucker suits, sundresses and hats.

Tickets cost $65 per person and may be ordered by calling the Harford County Bar Foundation at 410- 836-0123 or sending a check made payable to the Bar Foundation to 18 Office Street, First Floor, Bel Air, Md., 21014. Reservations are requested by Friday, April 24.

Businesses or individuals interested in sponsoring the event, with opportunities ranging from $100 to $750, are asked to contact the Harford County Bar Foundation by Monday, April 13.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Harford County Bar Foundation, which provides legal services and educational programs to support the underserved and those who lack the means to access help.

“Our clients come to our doorstep defeated, confused, hopeless and emotionally battered,” said Nancy Mahoney, executive director of the foundation. “The Harford County Bar Foundation provides legal services either at a reduced rate, or, more importantly, through grant funding and the public’s generosity. Our programs provide clients with the advocacy needed for them to advance successfully and become independent.”

The Harford County Bar Foundation was established in 1991 to increase pro bono services and to provide educational resources to low-income individuals in need of legal assistance in family law, housing, bankruptcy, consumer, foreclosure, and estates and trust.
