Rod L. Kornrumpf has been named executive director for behavioral health services for University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health in Harford County and Union Hospital in Elkton, Md.
In 2014, UM Upper Chesapeake Health and Union Hospital worked collaboratively to develop a regional strategic plan for the delivery of behavioral health services across Harford and Cecil counties.
Through that effort, a vision, objectives and a series of action plans were developed outlining how the two organizations could work closely together to improve the access to and expand the range of behavioral health services. Kornrumpf is leading these efforts on a regional basis and will have offices at both UM Harford Memorial Hospital and Union Hospital.
“Having someone with Rod’s experience to advance our plans for serving the behavioral health needs in our community is a great development,” said Lyle Sheldon, president and CEO for UM Upper Chesapeake Health.
Kenneth Lewis, M.D., president and CEO for Union Hospital, added, “This partnership with UM Upper Chesapeake Health reflects Union Hospital’s strong commitment to bringing the best resources and support to our region’s behavioral health system. Together we will improve our community’s access to behavioral health services.”
Kornrumpf most recently served as corporate director for behavioral health at Christiana Care Health System in Newark, Del. He has also worked as the regional CEO for adult mental health hospitals and services for the State of Minnesota and as vice president – managed care and network development for St. Francis Health System in Pittsburgh.
He received his bachelor’s degree in communication/journalism from Slippery Rock State College and his master’s degree in health systems management from Carnegie Mellon University. Kornrumpf is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
