[Fallston, MD]—December 9, 2014—Carl’s Door Service, Inc. invites residents of Baltimore and Harford counties to enter its Oldest Garage Door Opener contest. The company will begin accepting entries on January 5, 2015, and close the contest at midnight on February 6, 2015. Participants can enter using the Carl’s Door Service Facebook page. The winner will be announced on February 16, 2015 and will receive a new LiftMaster opener, along with standard installation, for a total value of $400.00.
Carl’s Door Service is sponsoring the contest in support of the garage door industry’s recommendation that openers manufactured before 1993 be replaced not repaired. Since a garage door is one of the heaviest moving objects in a home, keeping openers in proper working order is an important consumer safety issue.
Contest Rules & Exclusions:
- Participants must be a resident of either Baltimore or Harford counties. (Proof of residence required.)
- Contestants need to post a photo of their garage door opener on Carl’s Door Service Inc.’s Facebook page, along with a short statement noting the age of the opener.
- Entries should also include contact information (name, address, telephone, email).
- If possible, the photo should show the age on the label of the opener.
- Entries are due by midnight on February 6, 2015.
- Garage doors cannot be larger than 18 feet wide and/or 8 feet high.
- Hardwired openers are excluded from this contest.
- Winner can upgrade from a chain drive opener to a belt drive opener for an additional cost.
- If a reinforcing strut, opener bracket or other door repairs are required to properly install a new opener, these adjustments can be completed at an additional cost.
- The door must be in good, safe working condition.
If the age of the opener cannot be determined from the photo or the entry note, Carl’s experts will make the final call about the age of the unit using their best judgment. All decisions are final. The winner will be announced on February 16, 2015 and will receive a new LiftMaster opener, along with standard installation, for a total value of $400.00.
