BEL AIR, Md. (August 13, 2014) – Walmart today announced that it will join with the Harford Family House to kick off the organization’s upcoming Claddagh Manor Horse Show and Harford Family House Family Fun Day on Saturday, August 16. Walmart will serve as a sponsor of this special Harford County event, donating $1,500 to the organization.
Harford Family House, the largest provider of transitional housing for homeless families with children in Harford County, will host this equestrian-themed event as part of the organization’s 25th anniversary celebration. The organization’s goal is to end homelessness in Harford County, and Walmart has stepped up through its sponsorship to support this mission by recognizing the organization’s 25 years of assisting homeless families.
“Walmart is committed to giving back to the communities we live and work in, and we are thrilled to be lending support to this special Harford County cause,” said Walmart Director of Community Affair Nina Albert. “Organizations like the Harford Family House are essential to building stronger communities, and I am excited that Walmart is recognizing the essential contribution it makes to Harford County.”
In fiscal year ending 2013, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation provided more than $7 million in cash and in-kind donations to local organizations throughout Maryland. Including the additional funds raised by customers and associates, Walmart contributed more than $8.4 million to such organizations in the State of Maryland.
