Gerry Sandusky, voice of the Ravens, speaks at Abingdon Library June 14
(Belcamp, Maryland – July 15, 2013) Looking for a Father’s Day gift that is sure to please? Bring dad to the Abingdon Library on Saturday, June 14th at 2 p.m. to hear WBAL-TV sports director, voice of the Ravens and an award-winning journalist, Gerry Sandusky, discuss and sign his new book Forgotten Sundays.
Forgotten Sundays is the story of Sandusky’s relationship with his father, John Sandusky, and growing up in the early NFL culture. Gerry’s father was an NFL tackle and coach for the Baltimore Colts, Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins. Sandusky spent his summers observing his father in NFL training camps and his Sundays with superstars such as Johnny Unitas, Dan Marino, Don Shula and Tom Landry.
The book reflects how Sandusky’s relationship with his father evolved over the years and how he began to understand him on a much deeper level. This was especially true when his father began to tumble into the gauzy confusion of Alzheimer’s disease.
“The timing of the event, over Father’s Day weekend, couldn’t be better for those looking for an opportunity to spend quality time with a dad, granddad or uncle at an event that will be inspirational,” stated Mary Hastler, Harford County Public Library Director. “What a wonderful opportunity our Library customers will have to hear Gerry’s story about football in Baltimore and growing up as a coach’s son.”
