(Belcamp, Maryland – May 19, 2014) Brandon Koop, a participant of the Library Hacks contest and winner of the iPad Mini, was awarded his prize at the Bel Air Library. Library Hacks, an online information scavenger hunt, was a partnership between Harford county Public Library (hcplonline.org), Harford County Public Schools, (hcps.org) and Harford County Community College (harford.edu).
“I loved all the resources especially the Science In Context database,” said Brandon Koop, a tenth grade student at the New Covenant Christian School in Bel Air.
“I also love Mango Languages and use it to study German!”
The contest, which ran during National Library Week (April 13-19), consisted of following clues and answering questions online with the goal of introducing participants to the vast array of online resources available at all the library systems in Harford County.
“It is terrific to see teens engaged in using online resources to track down information as this is a skill they will need to use often when they get to college,” stated Carol Allen, Director for Library and Information Resources at Harford Community College. “The College was pleased at this chance to partner with the Harford County Public Library and School System to generate ‘buzz’ about information technology.”
The contest was open to middle and high school students. The iPad Mini was awarded in a random drawing from all the correct answer logs that were submitted.
