Inaugural Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk to help fund Cancer Lifenet

BEL AIR, Md. —A new event that will kick off Ironfest at Ripken Stadium is set to benefit cancer patients in Harford and Cecil counties.

The inaugural Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk will kick off the events on May 17.

Hichkad is a vibrant wife and mother of three boys; you would never know she has incurable metastatic cervical cancer.

“A lot of my days are spent at doctor’s appointments of various kinds, but I still think it’s all about spending as much time as I can with my boys. They are 6, 9 and almost 12,” Hichkad told 11 News.

Hichkad was first diagnosed in 2008 and lived cancer-free for three years until her cancer came back last year.

She gets her treatments at the Kaufman Cancer Center at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health in Bel Air. Over the years, she’s used the support services and mind-body therapies provided by Cancer Lifenet.
