Teenage math whiz Ethan Brown fascinated a crowd of over 200 at the Abingdon Library during a program about math “magic” on March 20.

(Belcamp, Maryland – March 26, 2014) Teenage math whiz Ethan Brown entertained and educated a crowd of over 200 at the Abingdon Library on March 20. The 15-year old “mathemagician” from New England interacted with the crowd while making math fun and more understandable through his impressive mental equations and demonstrations of math “magic.”

Brown’s presentation opened a new exhibition, More Than Numbers: The Magic of Math, a look at how math is used every day, from crime fighting to sports! The exhibition is on display at the Abingdon Library during library hours through May 3. These events kicked off Illusions, a series of presentations, speakers, and exhibitions related to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) across the Library system this spring. Check the Library website at HCPLonline.org or the spring issue of the Library’s Headlines & Happenings newsletter, for more information on programs and exhibitions.
