“It was an extreme honor to present the scholarship awards this year to such a hard-working, deserving group of graduates.  For over 63 years, HAR-CO’s philosophy has been to serve the community and I am so proud to be a part of giving back to our local students again this year. HAR-CO presented thirteen $1,500 Scholarships.  These 13 students competed against their peers by presenting a resume and essay detailing their academics, volunteerism, extracurricular activities and need. It was a joy meeting the parents, grandparents, family members and guardians of each student that evening.  Each year these outstanding students touch the hearts of the volunteers and employees of HAR-CO with all of their accomplishments.  We wish the students well in their future endeavors and we look forward to hearing from them in the future!” Said Debra Rettberg, Scholarship Chair and Board of Director.

HAR-CO’s Scholarship Committee is comprised of business and education professionals from its Board of Directors and its Supervisory Committee, including: Debra Rettberg, Thorkild Paaby, Jr., Charles Wellington, Teresa Knox, David Jones, and Larry Dukes plus Diane Edwards-Moore, Public Relations Specialist.

Annually, HAR-CO awards a $1,500 scholarship to most Harford County high schools. “It is my pleasure to be part of such an important program that continues to deliver real help to our community. Our focus is to get the applicants that are bright, community oriented and focused. This is one of many ways HAR-CO goes above and beyond to lend our members a helping hand. We congratulate the Class of 2018 on a Job Well Done by students and parents!” said Diane Edwards-Moore, Scholarship Committee member since 1988.
