Registration Open for Fall Sessions of Harford County’s Free “Prepare Because You Care” Emergency Preparedness Training Program

Participants in Harford County’s Prepare Because You Care program using a simulator to learn how to use a fire extinguisher on small fires.

 

When it comes to emergencies and disasters, it is not a question of “if”, but “when.” Find out what you need to know to protect yourself and your loved ones in a wide range of emergency situations.  Registration is now open for fall sessions of Harford County’s free “Prepare Because You Care” emergency preparedness training program developed by the county Department of Emergency Services. The next four-week session will be held on Wednesday evenings from September 13 through October 4 at the Fallston Volunteer Fire Company, 2201 Carrs Mill Road in Fallston. Another four-week session will be held on Wednesday evenings from October 18 to November 8 at the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company, 3306 Abingdon Road, in Abingdon. All classes begin at 7 p.m. and generally conclude by 9 p.m. Registration is required as available seats fill up quickly and space is limited. Participants must be at least 18 years old.

 

Each session of Prepare Because You Care will cover the following topics:

 

  • Harford County Emergency Services & How to Assemble an Emergency Supply Kit
  • Fire Safety & Basic First Aid
  • Crime Prevention & Awareness (by Harford County Sheriff’s Office)
  • CPR Certification; How to Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
