BEL AIR, Md., (March 18, 2015) – Harford County government is pleased to introduce a new online tool allowing citizens to track property development proposals in their communities. “Track-it” uses interactive county maps showing properties that are subject to a public meeting in the development process, identifying the meeting’s purpose, date, time and location. Track-it also links to available background on each proposal and general information about the development review process.
“Property development proposals are important to Harford’s communities, and my administration is committed to transparency for property owners and their neighbors alike,” said County Executive Barry Glassman. “Citizens should not have to stop along a roadside to read meeting notices on properties near where they live, work or travel. Track-it is a prime example of how we are using technology to improve service to our customers, the citizens of Harford County. I would like to thank our Department of Planning and Zoning for developing this new application.”
Accessible by computer, phone or other mobile device, Track-it is the first in a new line of Maps & Apps being produced by the Department of Planning and Zoning.
To view the service from the main page of the county website, www.harfordcountymd.gov, click on the “Track-it” button to access any one of three maps. Each map has color-coded icons to match the public meeting notices physically displayed on affected properties. Icons are blue on the map for Board of Appeals hearings, red for Development Advisory Committee meetings and black for Community Input Meetings.

Board of Appeals cases remain on the tracker for approximately 30 days after a final decision has been rendered; Community Input Meeting (CIM) and Development Advisory Committee (DAC) notifications remain on the tracker for approximately 30 days after projects are approved or otherwise no longer subject to the county review process.
Additional Map & Apps features include Geographic Information Systems (GIS) maps and story maps to encourage community engagement. “Maps & Apps is a Web portal designed to educate and promote interaction between county officials and the citizens we serve,” said Brad Killian, director of the Department of Planning and Zoning.
