Bel Air, MD (May 2014) – The Harford Ballet Company (HBC), resident company of the Dance Conservatory of Maryland, is headlining its spring production with Cinderella.  Featuring local Harford County students, the performances will take place June 14, 2014 at 6 p.m. and June 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Bel Air High School.

 

The performance will open with Harford Ballet Company, joined by students from the Dance Conservatory of Maryland, in a mixed bill performance featuring The Dance Conservatory of Maryland’s recreational dance forms.  Harford Ballet Company will also be presenting Tchaikovsky Concerto and Extremity, the two pieces of choreography HBC presented at the Youth America Grand Prix Finals in New York City this past April.

 

Headlining the second half of the program is Cinderella, a full-length ballet featuring choreography by Artistic Director Barclay Gibbs and Resident Choreographer Shana O’Brien. This classic fairy tale will be a delight to audience members complete with a fairy Godmother, handsome prince and an unforgettable ball! The production features charming sets, beautiful costumes and magical staging. Audience members will be amazed by the stunning technical clarity and dramatic artistry presented by the ballerinas while young children will be wrapped up in the promise of happily ever after with Cinderella and her friends as they come to life before their eyes!

The Company’s annual season features two programs of classic favorites and new works, including the holiday tradition, The Nutcracker.

 

Harford Ballet Company receives state arts funding through a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Harford County Cultural Arts Board and constantly seeks financial backing for the valuable art of ballet through memberships, grants, and personal and corporate donations.  .
